Because of the VR (Vibration Reduction) and the autofocus feature of the Nikon D60, the pictures are blur-free and sharper. For some time now, the Nikon lenses are quite famous for realistic color and spectacular sharpness. When cameras are handheld, shaking can be a problem.  But this problem can be minimized through the built in image stabilization technology utilized by Nikon D60.

Merry Hill awards major security services contract to PSC

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 19, 2009 – Westfield Shopping Towns Limited has signed a new security contract with PSC, one of the UK’s fastest growing suppliers of security services.  The contract, one of the largest awarded by Westfield, will extend the security services provided by the company to Westfield Merry Hill, Brierley Hill in the West Midlands for a further two years.  The total value of the contract is in excess of £3 million.
Westfield Merry Hill is one of the UK’s most successful shopping and leisure destinations.  The 148,000 sq m shopping centre has more than 250 stores, over 8,000 car parking spaces and receives over 23 million visitors each year.  The 220 acre mixed use site also includes The Waterfront complex, which is adjacent to the main shopping centre and offers corporate office accommodation.  It also has a busy night time economy, comprising bars and restaurants situated around a marina area.
Andrew Black, Managing Director of PSC UK commented that:  “We are delighted to have retained this important contract and are continuing to work with Westfield on a global basis, helping to protect important high value assets.  This will herald the start of a major expansion plan and we expect to be announcing further significant contracts over the coming months.”
PSC was awarded this contract as it had demonstrated a track record of success at Merry Hill over the last two years and understood the requirements for security services, especially in the current economic climate.  In addition to having one of the most stable workforces in the security industry, other important factors included the fact that PSC takes a pro-active approach to combating retail crime in partnership with every section of the community including local authorities, emergency services, schools and community groups.  This includes active participation in community safety forums that work to reduce anti-social behaviour and vandalism, as well as Crime Partnerships and initiatives such as PubWatch schemes which aim to achieve a safer social drinking environment in all licensed premises.
Another key factor was the investment that PSC makes in providing ongoing personal training and development programmes for every employee that exceed the standards required by the SIA.  The company has achieved Edexcel accreditation and provides a range of courses including legal guidelines, communication skills, emergency response and first aid.  The latest additions include special events management, a door supervisor course and a range of NVQ courses conducted in conjunction with Swindon College.

Silver Socks and Silver-Lined Shoes

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 15, 2009 – We have Dorothy’s ruby slipper, Cinderella’s glass slipper, Michael Johnson’s gold shoes but what about shoes of silver?  Believe it or not, “silver” shoes are widely available today even without a good witch or fairy godmother.  Silver, it turns out, is a remarkably successful anti-bacterial agent.  The silver ions are able to enter bacteria cells and bond with the bacteria’s DNA chains.  This bonding process prevents the bacteria cells from reproducing.
Shoe and sock companies use a fiber called X-static® - a 99 percent silver yarn, which is bonded to other fibers in the sock.  These other fibers can be anything – cotton, spandex, high-tech GORE-TEX material – that you would usually find in a sock or the lining of a shoe.  The materials are so well bonded that you can wash silver socks without worrying whether any of the silver agent is washing out.  
Silver socks or silver-lined shoes are especially helpful for people with diabetes. Due to poor circulation and neuropathy, diabetics are particularly vulnerable when it comes to developing foot ulcers and serious infections on their feet.  By wearing silver socks, the silver “detects” the infection before you do – even before visible signs of the infection such as pus, redness or swelling have developed.  Working on the microbial level, silver eliminates bacteria in the early phases of infection.  In addition to diabetics, people with foot deformities such as hammertoe or bunions – and who are also more likely to develop foot ulcers - may want to invest in pair of silver socks or silver-lined shoes.  
On a less serious front, people who deal with foot odor may find silver-lined shoes or silver socks helpful when it comes to eliminating their problem.  Foot odor is caused by bacteria.  Fewer bacteria mean less noticeable foot odor.  Of course, most people with foot odor attract bacteria because their feet are abnormally sweaty.  If you are investing in a pair of silver socks or silver-lined shoes, make sure that they are also designed from a breathable material that will wick moisture away from the foot.  Not only with this keep your feet cool, dry and happy, it will also prevent fungal infections such as Athlete’s foot or Fungal Toenail infections from forming.
